He has done things ten thousand times worse – the present calculation of casualties due to his slashing to USAID stands at 600,000 and growing, and this week a study forecast his energy policies would cause deaths another 1.3 million. But nothing as definitional. No other president would have attempted – really, no previous leader would have conceived – solo demolishing large sections of the executive mansion in order to erect a royal-themed celebration hall, with the active collaboration of numerous America's wealthiest, nearly all of which conduct transactions with federal agencies.

As bewildering as it is to observe the chief executive try to upend the old idea of democracy and exchange it with its direct contrary, there remains a substantial portion among Americans who wouldn't consider it completely novel. That is those of us – in older age cohorts close to half – who were brought up within mainstream Protestant traditions.
We have witnessed across decades while conservative evangelical congregations converted the Savior we learned about into the complete reverse of who we understood him to be. At its most basic, they converted a persona of affection into an icon of animosity who endorses exactly the harshness that he condemned in the Gospel; this has happened more gradually, over decades as opposed to months, but it is nonetheless unsettling via comparable methods, a disorienting gut punch for countless people.
A Harmful Christianity Establishes Itself

In the 1950s it was controlled through watering down – The Protestant faith was so widespread that it practically baptized the status quo.
A Conflict for the Highest of Us
So I have been encouraged to observe the persistent defiance to Trump develop in this past year. It has served as significant comfort to help build the initiative that has protested openly in rally after rally, and likely has encouraged voters to participate in large quantities in the off-year elections. We shall require to persist with it, and with identical determination, featuring US banners at every demonstration and calls to the best parts in US history.
